Alrick Fletcher EMDR, MBACP
Hale Village Therapy Centre
210A Ashley Road
I am a highly qualified and experienced psychotherapist/counsellor and a BACP registered member, having been in practice for 12 years.
I have worked for Relate a national counselling agency as a couple/individual and relationship therapist and as a family counsellor working on a long term and short term basis. I also work in schools as a young person's counsellor and have worked for Manchester City Council offering parenting advice and parenting courses.
Some of the issues I deal with are communication, conflict, divorce, the aftermath of an affair, fertility issues, sexual issues, bereavement and loss, coping with separation, relationship issues. Individual issues include bullying, self harm, trauma, PTSD, attachment difficulties, stress, anxiety, depression, coming to terms with illness and the effects on yourself and your relationships with others, eating disorders, relating to others and work issues.
I help clients to come to terms with long term health conditions.
I offer counselling for families and parenting advice. I can help with the wide range of problems that the modern family encounters, helping to draw on the family's resources and to give each family member a chance to voice their needs in a safe, contained environment.
I am a trained EMDR therapist ( Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing). I trained with the renowned EMDR Masterclass, EMDR therapy is the most researched therapies and compared to other methods it is often found to be more effective ( better results in a shorter time period).
EMDR therapy helps clients reprocess disturbing or traumatic memories by using a process that involves bilateral stimulation of the brain using sounds, taps, or eye movements.
A wealth of research has also been conducted demonstrating the benefits of EMDR in treating anxiety, anxiety disorders, distress, phobias, assault, chronic pain, bereavement, depression, self esteem and confidence issues, childhood abuse, domestic abuse, eating disorders and accidents.
EMDR has been found to be very beneficial to young people, as well as to adults. This process is approved by NICE ( National Institute of Clinical Excellence ) as an effective treatment for the management of PTSD and to re-establish a healthy core belief about the self. For more information please visit my website.
I work from my own comfortable premises in Stockport.
