Alison Steven Dip.Couns. Reg.BACP
Do you need to find someone outside your situation to talk through your difficulties?
I offer affordable Counselling that provides an opportunity for a client to work through their own particular difficulties with my support, making it possible to safely explore thoughts and feelings around current or past experiences, in a confidential setting.
When I began working as a counsellor I joined a team that offered free counselling to people often in financial difficulty, in a centre that also supported them with debt advice and practical help, so aiming to meet the needs of the whole person. Currently I work one day a week in a counselling service, as well as seeing clients privately. Before this, among other things, I trained as a secretary, and was a partner in running a dairy farm business. I have also lived overseas which gave me insight into living in a different culture.
I aim to provide a non-judgemental and understanding atmosphere to help clients gain new insights about themselves and their situation, in order for them to think about different ways to deal with their difficulties and so find a new way to respond, which hopefully leads to personal growth, a better way to live and consequently a greater sense of peace.
Training, qualifications & experience
Some of the issues I have assisted clients through are anxiety and depression, bereavement, grief and loss, stress, abuse and relationship difficulties.
I qualified with a Dip.HE in Counselling, and I am based in Herstmonceux, East Sussex. I offer confidential, one to one counselling, using an Integrative approach, incorporating a spiritual world view for those who would find this helpful. I am a registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and so adhere to their ethical framework of good practice and am subject to their professional conduct and procedures.
