Alison Price (Dip. Couns. MBACP)
Hi, I'm Alison. My principal aim when working with my clients is to provide a therapeutic environment where personal issues and problems can be explored together in a highly empathic, confidential, safe, non-judgemental and comfortable environment. I am a fully qualified counsellor and registered member of the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy). My end goal for my clients is to enable them to gain insight into their issues and to discover their inner strengths to help them to achieve positive solutions, helping them move forward to a more successful future.
Most of us encounter problems and issues of varying degrees at some point in our lives and yet we can feel that we are very much alone. As a counsellor I offer a collaborative space where I work together with my clients to find a positive way through.
How I work
As an Integrative counsellor I am able to draw on techniques and strategies from various theories which I can tailor to suit your individual needs. For me this is fundamentally important as we are all wonderfully unique and respond in different ways to the stress and emotional strains of everyday life. As we continue through the sessions we can evaluate whether we feel that appropriate progress is being made or whether anything needs to be changed.
I am rooted in person-centred counselling but draw on theories from CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy), Solution-Focused Therapy and some aspects of TA (Transactional Analysis). I feel this enables me to be a more well-rounded counsellor as I can consider each problem or issue from a range of different perspectives .
My private practice is located in the centre of Stockport and is easily accessable by road, rail and bus service. Parking is available to the rear and surrounding area of the location.
Training, qualifications & experience
I have gained a wealth of experience from my time working in the IAPT (Improving Access to Psychological Therapies) Service within the NHS and also volunteered both as a placement counsellor and qualified counsellor for Tameside, Oldham and Glossop Mind. During this time I have dealt with a range of issues such as bereavement, loss, relationship issues, mild-moderate anxiety/depresson, historic abuse, work-related stress and anger issues. I have also previously worked for a charity within the mental health sector providing support to adults with mild-moderate depression/anxiety.
