Deciding to begin counselling can be a difficult, scary choice and it takes courage to make the first step, getting in touch.
Getting in touch is often the hardest part....
I offer a counselling that is based on the belief that a client is the expert on themselves, most of the time.
But there are times when life can present some overwhelming issues and problems and no matter how hard you try, how much effort you put into fixing them, you feel stuck and the problem remains.
At these times it can be beneficial to talk to a counsellor, talk to me.
About me and my therapy
After having my children I decided to retrain as a lecturer in Further and Higher Education. I taught in Merseyside and Manchester for over 15 years. My counselling experience began in my teaching career as one of my duties was to counsel students in my role as personal tutor. I went on to qualify with a MA in Clinical Counselling in 2011. Having worked in a charity organisation in Accrington, Lancashire for 4 years I decided early to open my own private practice in Southport.
I am especially interested in Addiction - compulsive thinking and behaving, having researched this area as part of my Masters qualification. This means that I am experienced in addictions, OCD, anxiety, eating disorders and depression.
As well as being trained in the person-centred approach I have other therapeutic training and skills, as described below, that enable me to adapt to each client and offer what will be most helpful to them.
I offer a free phone consult or a face to face initial consult for £15.
I offer reduced fees for people who work part-time, who are not working or are students.
I offer daytime sessions Monday to Saturday as well as early evening.
I do not work Sunday.
I also offer online sessions, eg using Skype, and email communication for clients who are located further away or are abroad, or who are unable to travel.
I offer an initial free consultation on the phone and then an initial face to face session at reduced rate so that you have an opportunity to see if you feel happy to work with me, and ask me any questions.
