About me

I qualified from the University of Wales in 2007 graduating with a Post-Graduate Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) which is a BACP certified course.

After qualifying, I set up and developed a counselling service in a secondary school in Taunton. I also work with both children and adults in my private practice.

I see my private clients at home and offer a very comfortable and safe environment which creates a welcoming and peaceful environment for therapy to take place.

I understand that the decision to take up counselling can feel like a daunting one and it can be difficult knowing where to go. I very much welcome enquiries so that we can discuss the way forward that will suit you best.

I am not always able to pick up a telephone call immediately, but if you leave me a voicemail, I will get back to you as soon as I can.  I will also respond quickly to an email enquiry.

What is CBT?

Cognitive Behaviour Therapy encompasses two key elements; “cognitive” (how you think) and “behaviour” (what you do). The aim of CBT is to encourage you to explore how you think about yourself, your environment and other people and how what you do can affect these thoughts. By identifying negative patterns in thought or behaviour it is possible to change the way you feel and respond to situations, helping you to live your life positively.

CBT takes a problem-solving approach. Unlike many other psychotherapies, it focuses on problems and difficulties faced in your present life, rather than those you might have faced in your past. It looks to find practical ways to improve your state of mind on a daily basis.

Can CBT help me?

Cognitive Behaviour Therapy can be an effective treatment for a number of problems:

  • Anger management
  • Anxiety and panic attacks
  • Chronic Fatigue Syndrome/M.E.
  • Chronic pain
  • Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD)
  • Depression
  • Addiction
  • Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
  • Relationship problems
  • Phobias
  • Eating disorders
  • Sleep disorders

Please email me or ring if you would like to discuss whether or not CBT is appropriate for you.
