About me

I am an experienced Counsellor and Psychotherapist based in Ulverston.  I offer face to face and online support.

Counselling is for anyone who is experiencing difficulties in their life. The difficulties you are facing may have been around for a long time or they may be related to what is happening now and you may be suffering with depression, anxiety or experiencing relationship difficulties. Your sessions will help and support you to find the confidence to move forward.

I will engage with you and support you in exploring and understanding the issues you bring. My therapy room is comfortable, secure and safe and my work with you will kept in confidence.

Your 1st appointment is for 1 hour. I would want to know about you and what brought you to counselling. It also gives you the opportunity to ask any questions about me and my work, and for us to agree if we would like to work together.

I am a Member of The British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy Register of Professionals, which is Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

I am happy to respond to any queries you have via e-mail or phone, (details at the top of this page).

Training, qualifications & experience

I am an Integrative Psychotherapist with much experience of working with adults, adolescents and children.
(I am not presently taking clients under 18years of age.)

I have a Diploma in Transactional Analysis, which is a unique in-depth theory of personality, development and communication.

I have a Certificate in Couples Counselling.

I have an Accredited Diploma in Counselling Children and Young People.

People of all ages find benefit in working creatively to explore, understand and resolve difficult issues or manage the challenges of life. Creative approaches can be a helpful tool, helping you to understand and resolve difficulties you may be experiencing. I have much experience of working this way as well as using the traditional counselling approach of 'Talking Therapy'.

I have worked in Private Practice since 2010 and have my own therapy room based in Ulverston, Cumbria.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
