We all have periods of life that are distressing but occasionally these become too much for us to bear alone. If your problem is affecting the quality of your life and undermining your hopes and aspirations then making time for yourself to try to understand and change these concerns is one of the most important decisions you can make. Taking that first step to see a counsellor often takes great courage but, if you're suffering, perhaps it's time to take that step....
I am an experienced BACP registered psychodynamic psychotherapist & counsellor who works with individual adults for both short and long-term psychotherapy in and around both Godalming & Guildford in Surrey. I provide a calm, safe & confidential space in which, together, we can come to understand what brings you to therapy and look at ways that your life can begin to move forward again.
Psychodynamic psychotherapy is a talking therapy which takes into account your life as a whole, looking at your current circumstances as well as past and present relationships and events. It is hoped that through talking, listening & reflecting, links can be made that provide insight and help you to increase your awareness of your self and why you feel or perhaps act in a certain way. Psychodynamic psychotherapy aims to help you to understand and then begin to change complex, deep and often unconscious, emotional and relational problems.
I have experience with -
- relationship difficulties
- Panic attacks
- self Esteem
- eating disorders
- loss, grieving & mourning
- obsessive-compulsive behaviour
Please do take a look at my website and if you feel that I might be able to help you then I'm very happy to have a short initial conversation on the phone followed by an assessment at either address.
Training, qualifications & experience
I have a Post Graduate Diploma in psychodynamic psychotherapy taken at WPF and accredited by the university of Roehampton. This 4 year course is an intense training in both theory and involved clinical experience from the outset. Qualification is based on a true understanding of the theory and on several hundred hours of fully supervised sessions with a wide variety of clients.
Prior or to the PGDip I qualified as a psychodynamic counsellor in a 1 year foundation course at WPF Therapy in London Bridge.
Most of my experience since qualification is a mixture of private work and NHS patients. I have seen a truly wide diversity of people from all walks of life who all have one thing in common q
I trained as a yoga & meditation teacher 7 years ago and have taken several trainings since in both meditation and mindfulness.
I have experience helping people with anxiety, depression and panic attacks.
I have particular experience in seeing men who find coming to therapy and talking about now they feel difficult.
I have worked extensively with addicts, alcoholics and addiction in general.
