Alasdair Tait, UKCP, BPC, FPC psychotherapist and counsellor
39 Margaret Street
When things get difficult and speaking with friends, family, colleagues doesn't seem to lift your mood, sometimes searching out for a safe, professional and confidential space to talk may be the best solution. As a psychotherapist, my role is to not only find a way of allowing you space to express some of the issues and feelings that are getting in the way of your daily life, but together to think about how you might understand these anxieties and gain some perspective on the impact they are having on yourself and others around you.
However, reaching out to someone for the first time may also feel quite difficult and daunting. If you feel you wish to make contact with me, you can email firstname.lastname@example.org or leave a message on 07770 755318 to which I will respond. When we make contact, then we can can discuss if you feel you wish to meet and talk about some of the issues troubling you.
I am a qualified, experienced and professionally registered psychodynamic psychotherapist and counsellor offering open-ended or brief psychodynamic therapy, in comfortable, private consulting rooms two minutes' walk from Oxford Circus tube station.
I also also offer periods of brief Dynamic Interpersonal Therapy (DIT), focusing on patterns in our relationships that often lead to feelings of depression and anxiety. As well as offering this brief treatment privately, I am currently working as an honorary DIT therapist for the NHS in Camden.
Psychodynamic thinking understands that our unconscious exerts a strong pull on our everyday lives. Often depression, anxiety or other psychological difficulties originate from feelings that may be beyond our immediate and conscious understanding. Psychodynamic therapy helps to gain some perspective on these underlying assumptions, aiming to relieve some of the more distressing immediate symptoms. It has a strong, recognised evidence base.
If you wish to contact me, please do email email@example.com or leave a message on 07770 755318 to arrange an initial meeting.
Training, qualifications & experience
I trained at WPF Counselling & Psychotherapy and hold the WPF Advanced Diploma in Psychodynamic Psychotherapy and Counselling, accredited by the University of Roehampton, and am registered as a professional member of the FPC, BPC and UKCP accrediting organisations. I am also an accredited therapist in the new IAPT supported brief Dynamic Interpersonal Therapy (DIT), working within the NHS in Camden and Islington ad well as privately.
I have over eight years experience working with many issues including anxiety, depression, sexual and gender issues, illness and bereavement both in long term and brief short term work. Prior to training I also worked within voluntary listening organisations providing a space for people in crisis and suicidal thoughts.
