About me

Aileen J Raftery BSc Hons Psychology, Counselling Dip (CBT Model) MBACP Accred

I am a fully accredited therapist with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy. I work as an independent practitioner for a City Centre GP practice in Manchester and can offer CBT therapy in the Didsbury area subject to request.

I am also retained by an international organisation for the provision of early CBT intervention for Directors, Managers and staff at all levels of employment who benefit from CBT intervention as part of their wellbeing programme.  

Training, qualifications & experience

I am CBT core trained with additional underlying counselling training and I successfully incorporate additional models in the therapy process where appropriate.

I have a broad range of experience helping individuals manage and overcome a range of life problems.   These include Anxiety, Depression, OCD, PTSD, Panic Disorder, Phobias, Social Anxiety, General Anxiety or Chronic Worry, Stress.   I also support clients to manage healthy controlled drinking, along with other issues such has improving self-esteem, developing assertiveness.

CBT is an excellent early intervention model for overall wellbeing.   The approach is :

Informative - offers highly educational and engaging material
Corrective - helps individuals identify and correct unhelpful ways of coping with personal difficulties
Preventative - helps control against relapses, nurtures personal development and self-awareness, helps to build emotional resilience for the longer term.

Aileen is offering a free drop-in clinic at Pall Mall Medical Centre two Saturday afternoons per month between 12 noon and 2pm. Subject to advance booking and availability, 20 minute drop-in sessions are available to those wishing to find out more about CBT and how this model of intervention might help individuals at a more personal level.
