About me

Welcome

Thank you for reading my profile. I really appreciate that reaching out for help is a big step and can come with a sense of uncertainty and even anxiety. When life becomes challenging and overwhelming or things that we thought had been laid to rest resurface , seeking therapy in a confiding and compassionate space can be a great source of support and provide much needed arena to share your thoughts and feelings as a way of finding inner peace and greater resolve to move forward with your life in a more satisfying way.

Qualifications and experience

I am a UKCP registered and accredited integrative psychotherapist working both in private practice and in the voluntary sector supporting individuals in their psychological wellbeing. I hold a first class degree in psychology, various certificates in counselling skills, and an MSc and Clinical Diploma in Integrative Psychotherapy. I have over 11 years of experience in assisting clients with issues associated with anxiety, depression, relationships, work related problems and redundancy, insecurity and low self esteem, sex, sexuality, gender, stress, abuse, anger, trauma, bereavement, addictions, eating disorders, cultural and family problems amongst others.

How I work

My particular model of integration is based on a relational-developmental model, working on the premise that our childhood experiences affect how we are today, our relationships, our worldview and the strategies we use to survive.

In therapy we will talk about your feelings in your current circumstances aiming to identify and improve your ways of coping. I will discuss with you the various options that may be made to enable you to find greater clarity in making your own choices.

Therapy provides an opportunity for us to reflect on how you are living your life, who you are, what you do and what you feel in the present and how this might be related to your past experiences. A better understanding of yourself and how you are in relationships may bring the possibility of lasting change.

I believe that the relationship between therapist and client is a key factor in achieving good therapeutic outcomes. Therefore my aim is to provide a safe, confidential space which allows us to explore collaboratively whatever issues have contributed to your choice to seek therapy at this time.

In the initial session we will discuss what you hope to gain from sessions and whether and how we might work together. You may wish to focus on a specific problem or feel generally dissatisfied with the way your life is going or you may simply wish to find out more about yourself . We will discuss and agree the focus for our work and how long we will work for. This will be open to review at any time.

Supervision

My approach to Supervision is Integrative and Relational which are related to the broad landscape that supervision currently engages with.  challenges that emerge in practice within current supervision practice.

In the same way that I think of the therapeutic relationship being at the heart of my practice as a psychotherapist, I view the relationship between supervisor supervisee and their client at the heart of the supervisory process.

This co-created space between supervisor, supervisee and their client offers the possibility of professional support and a safe place to reflect on and explore clinical work, to learn and be challenged, and to consider and work with a range of professional issues.

I have been working as a supervisor since 2016. I supervise therapists and counselling psychologists working in a variety of settings, including NHS, voluntary sector and private practice, and with both long and short term work. I am experienced supervising trainee psychotherapists and counselling psychologists and am familiar liaising with training organisations and placements, where necessary. I offer both individual and small group supervision.
