I am an experienced and chartered Clinical Psychologist - I help individuals and families with their psychological wellbeing. I have private and NHS experience as a Clinical Psychologist. My focus involves depression, anxiety and dealing with trauma, as well as a particular interest in physical conditions that may have an emotional connection, e.g, chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia. I am professionally registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and am a chartered member of The British Psychological Society (BPS).
I provide psychological therapy and assessment for a wide range of psychological, emotional and behavioural problems. I aim to help people overcome their problems as quickly and effectively as possible, guided by their pace and capabilities.
Treated problems include: depression, anxiety disorders, trauma, eating disorders, medically unexplained symptoms and pains, Irritable Bowel Syndrome, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (or ME), relationship problems, Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, self-harm, emotional instability, personality issues.
I use training and experience in various therapies such as, Intensive Short-Term Dynamic Psychotherapy (ISTDP), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and mindfulness-based therapy to work with a range of people and problems. I specialise in ISTDP as this approach is designed to be highly effective and create long-lasting change in as short a time-frame as possible. I will work collaboratively with you to tailor therapy to your individual goals and needs.
Places of work
I work at the Beaumaris Wellbeing Centre in Newport, Shropshire and hired clinic rooms in Kidderminster and Bridgnorth.
Training, qualifications & experience
I have been working in mental health since 2003, having gained my first degree in psychology. I subsequently qualified as a Clinical Psychologist from the University of Birmingham and worked for several years in secondary care adult mental health services in the NHS. This involved working with moderate to severe mental health problems including eating disorders, anxiety, depression and personality disorders. Supervising, consultation and teaching were also regular parts of my roles.
As the Lead Clinical Psychologist at Beaumaris Healthcare, I oversee the therapeutic input of the wellbeing centre and provide consultation, teaching, training and supervision more widely within our organisation. I also receive regular clinical supervision and participate in peer supervision with qualified colleagues.
I am an 'approved provider' with all major health insurance companies.
