Are you going through a challenging time? Finding it hard to cope? Do you need some support?
Counselling is a conversation with a trained listener, where you talk and we firstly identify your issues. It's then a process of working together to find your answers without advice or judgement.
If you think I can help please contact me:-
What to expect?
On the very first session I will ask you for your goal, or what you wish to achieve. We will work at your pace towards the change you are looking for, clarifying along the way that you have not changed your goal.
You will do most of the talking. I do the listening and then reflect back what I have heard.
At all times you will be held under the umbrella of unconditional positive regard, empathic listening, with total confidentially upheld. Once a month I attend supervision where we make sure I am working at a clients best interests at all times.
I work under the BACP code of ethics.
I work from short term through to long term.
Where I work from
I am happy to work with you in your local Park. People just walk past us, sometimes we will get a smile or a hello, a dog might run up to us with a wagging tail. We enjoy the fresh air, the flowers, the ambiance of the day. As of yet I haven't had anybody come and sit along side us while we are working, but I don't see it being a problem, we could always move on.
Alternatively, some people prefer to meet in their own homes, others a coffee shop or pub.
A bit about me...
Previously, after hitting an all time low in my life, I started doing voluntary work helping prisoners to get aid towards rebuilding their life,
I took the four year advanced diploma in person centred counselling, and did my basic hours in the same open prison gaining a vast wealth of experience. I carried on gaining experience for many years before moving on to building up a private practice.
I have 4 grown up children who have challenged and opened up my life, taking me to wonderful places I never dreamed existed, and emotions I never knew I had.
I enjoy a wide range of activities from going out to the theatre, sea fishing, camping, watching football and rugby. I love cooking and eating out and especially going out on my motorbike. I find this helps to recharge my batteries and puts me in touch with all my senses.
Each year you will find me riding in the British Legions "Ride of Respect" and the newly formed "Ring of Red" along with the "Lee Rigby ride" and anything else that supports our armed services.

Testimony from Working with parents of transgender children
Almost 2 years ago our 15yr old son sat down with us and told us, out of the blue, that he no longer wanted to be a boy and for many years had felt more like girl. He also didn’t like his body and ultimately wanted to change it. We were gob smacked to say the least. We had not seen this coming and hadn’t ever suspected it. Our son had always had a lovely ‘soft’ character about him unlike most lads who like to ‘rough and tumble’, and if he had said he was gay (like our daughter) we wouldn’t have been quite so surprised.
Not knowing how to handle this news or how best to support him I eventually searched the internet for a counsellor who could help me process my feelings and thoughts while having an understanding of the change of family dynamics we were going through. In the past I have found walking and the tranquillity of the countryside has been beneficial to letting my mind ‘unlock’ and helps to let my mind wander – whether it be confronting issues in my life or generating new ideas. So when I found Lynn’s details she appeared to be a perfect match!
We met initially to see if I felt Lynn would be the right person to help me. I quickly found that with her vast experience of counselling and the world of gender diversity I felt comfortable discussing anything and everything. After 8 months or so of our ‘walk and talks’ I am more confident in how I can support my daughter now she is living as a girl, has started at College and is making new friends. Lynn helped me explore my feelings and face my fears for my daughter as she progressed through her life. I no longer dwell on my fears for her future but embrace today and the exciting journey we are both going on.

Some peoples schedules mean they can only fit in one appointment every two weeks. The area I cover is Basingstoke up to Caversham, Reading, Maidenhead, Slough, Staines, Guildford, Farnham, Aldershot and Fleet.
