Julie Lanyon-Hogg Room 2B Children & YP Counselling Service
0798 275 8260
I am a fully qualified and experienced integrative counsellor providing a counselling service for adults and children. I believe when clients are provided with the opportunity to gain clarity, to express and explore their feelings in ways that words alone cannot always achieve, they are given the opportunity for change and growth.
I am a registered and accredited member of the BACP and also a qualified teacher, having 20 years experience, including SENCo work and an Advisory teacher for children with social, emotional and behavioural difficulties.
Currently I also work as an Educational Psychotherapist in Bedfordshire, and have set up and run children's counselling services within alternative educational provisions.
Room 2B is a branch of my practice which provides counselling for children and young people in the Bedfordshire and Buckinghamshire area. School contracts can be set up as well as counselling contracts for individuals within Social Services and other agencies providing support to children and young people.
All Room 2B counsellors are fully qualified, BACP registered and experienced.
The school counselling service was established in 2010 and has worked with children from 5 - 13 years.
Individual work with young people from 13-19 years has also been undertaken since 2007.
- Integrative - which means we use a number of theoretical frameworks according to the individual's need.
- Child/Person Centred Counselling is key with all our clients.
- Our children's work uses the principles of play therapy to help them express and explore their thoughts and feelings with more clarity than just using words.
- Solution focused approach to family issues.
Room 2B Children & Young People's Counselling Service
When something goes wrong in a child's or young person's life, whether or not they are aware of the cause, we believe that being able to talk to a counsellor in a safe and confidential environment enables them to gain some clarity, and begin to work things through.
Room 2B provides counselling within the school setting, working directly for the school. We also counsel individual children as set up by their parents/guardians in counselling rooms in Milton Keynes.
Room 2B initially offers a parent/guardian meeting to hear parent's concerns about their child, and together assess whether counselling is appropriate for the child at that present time. We provide support and feedback throughout the counselling process, with a view to strengthen and build positive family relationships.
Our objectives are
- To inform children and young people in order to facilitate a better understanding and expression of their feelings.
- To enable them to identify appropriate and helpful alternatives for expressing their emotions.
- To facilitate them to gain insight and awareness of empathy to establish good family relationships.
Room 2B are a non reporting service provider. All Room 2B counselling services are confidential. We do not disclose verbal or written information without the client's permission or agreement. There are some legal exceptions to confidentiality if there are grounds of belief that safety issues are compromised.
'Julie Lanyon-Hogg has always acted in the most professional manner meeting with parents prior to the start of the children's counselling sessions. Her communication with the school has been excellent enabling us to maximise the number of children supported. The children's needs have always been at the heart of the counselling and I would strongly recommend Julie's counselling services to support the emotional needs of children.' Head Teacher of a Primary School
I hold a Diploma in Child, Adolescent and Adult Psychotherapy and Counselling Supervision and offer clinical supervision to trainee and qualified counsellors working with individual adults, children and young people from my comfortable supervision room in Milton Keynes or via Skype.
I also supervise educational professionals to prevent 'burn out' from the challenging work they do within schools. This is usually monthly and can be set up for individuals or small groups.
