YOU, your head and food
September 22nd, 2009 by Jayne Cox
So many clients come to me to understand why they eat uncontrollably or why they feel food is such a desperately difficult part of their lives to live with and ultimately conquer. It’s a love/hate relationship. They ‘d like to love their food but end up feeling hatred towards something that appears to be increasingly troublesome and time consuming to deal with. It’s only eating but they struggle with this ‘simple’ task. Why?
The truth is they have often gained weight over a period of time, for many different reasons and after searching for a means to control this increase from growing more, they have used diets and missed meals to lose the extra pounds, quickly. Everything today is supposed to be fast right? Get credit fast, get a loan fast, get a quickie divorce, speed dating, fast food and so on. Sadly quick weight loss and fad dieting, skipping meals, leads to weight gain and the cycle of the yo yo dieter begins. It’s addictive and feels like a form of control, so the years of searching for the ultimate diet begin. £'s are spent on books, shakes, diet clubs and still years later they feel stuck.
Many clients discover, through specialist therapy and coaching, that they eat to feel full of love, to feel happy, perhaps to escape or as a punishment or barrier. it's been a way of coping. They have learned to bypass natural signals regarding food and feelings and want to learn more and change for life.
If you’ve dieted for years or think this makes sense to you, rings a few bells maybe, perhaps it’s time to look at YOU, your head and food in a different way?
