“Do you create your Negative Buzz?”
January 14th, 2010 by Jayne Cox
Clients tell me they discover they’ve created ‘chaos’ in many aspects of their lives to get that ‘buzz’ of achievement or to simply ‘feel good’, when they finally tackle it. It’s great to feel we’ve achieved something, although not so good if you have to suffer to get it! They tell me they feel amazing when they understand why they do it and discover a new way of creating their Positive Buzz!
So do you create your Negative Buzz?
Here’s what clients tell me...
“I put off making decisions until I’m under pressure then feel relief when it’s done”
“I feel out of control with my eating and then ‘I’m good again’ or go on a diet !”
“I create mess to get a great feeling when I tidy up or get the cleaners in”
“I procrastinate at work and cause myself stress, why!”
“I ‘forget’ about bills and then get myself into debt, or pay interest just to feel something!”
“I max out my credit card to feel ‘good’ when I have to scrimp for a month to pay it”
If you create this Negative Buzz then you’ll recognize some of these behaviours and you may just start to ‘get’ what else you are doing. The alternative is to work on changing these habits. Pick just one 'chaotic' behaviour to work on and see it through to completion, yes it may take time but it's about repeating the process. It’s actually the most common issue that presents itself to me with clients who have disordered eating. From bulimia to compulsive and emotional eating. The good news...tackling this behaviour can really help you turn weight and other problematic behaviours around, in addition to other Professional support.
So you can start today, tidy that drawer, pay that bill, make the difficult business decision, catch up with that friend, email or phonecall and arrange that meeting with the difficult client.
Make 2010 a year fro creating Positive Buzz, think of all the 'me' time you'll create and what an Abundant year you'll have!
