About me

As it can be hard to choose the right counsellor, I offer a free introductory meeting of 30 minutes so we can decide if we want to work together.  At this time you can ask any questions you have about the way I work. Contact me by phone, email or text to book this session, whatever is easiest for you. I am available for sessions using SKYPE.  I can offer telephone counselling for short term work (up to six sessions).

I believe that individuals have the capacity to find their own way forward in life given the right conditions and this underpins my approach. My areas of experience include bereavement, living with life limiting illness, loss and transition, workplace issues including bullying, anxiety, depression, self esteem, life changing events, family and relationship issues, and couples counselling.  I have attended training in trauma and dissociation. I am an experienced group facilitator and I have trained in mindfulness based stress reduction, recommended by NICE as an effective treatment for anxiety and depression. I completed a training course called CBT with heart in July 2015.

Having trained in person centred art therapy, I can provide creative and alternative approaches to counselling, including working with images and the sand tray. I recognise this is not appealing to everyone and many people are more comfortable with talking - this is ok too!

Sometimes there is a sense that you are not living life as you want, although nothing in particular is wrong. Stress and anxiety are increasingly common in the busy lives we lead. Taking that first step of making contact can be hard and I understand that it can be really difficult to open up about things that are deeply private. I believe that being truly heard and accepted by another person can be the beginning of a different and more satisfying life.

I worked for nine years in a hospice where I had the role of coordinating the team of volunteer counsellors as well as providing counselling to patients, relatives of patients and the bereaved.  I facilitated patient groups and bereavement groups

I am experienced in providing both face to face and telephone counselling for employee assistance programs.

I have worked in private practice since 2007.

I am an individual accredited and registered member of BACP (MBACP Accred) and the person centred art therapy association. I adhere to the BACP code of ethics and conduct and attend regular training as part of my continuing professional development.

I charge £40 for a 50-minute face-to face session and £30 for a 50-minute telephone session. I offer evening appointments. If you are unemployed, a student or have a low income reduced fees are negotiable.
