About me

Does it sometimes feel as if an event from the past keeps playing on your mind? Whatever happens to us in our life, whether from past experiences or more recent, has the potential to cause problems such as relationship difficulties, depression, stress or anxiety. I have considerable experience as a therapist and remain passionate and motivated to help you work through the challenges that you are facing. My aim as a counsellor is to provide a caring, warm and supportive environment in which you feel accepted and understood without fear of judgement or criticism.

I work with people who have experienced loss in all its forms, whether through bereavement, job losses, ending of a relationship, abortion or miscarriage When these events occur we can sometimes be surprised by the range of emotions that we experience such as feeling overwhelmed, unable to cope, tearfullness and low self-esteem.

As you read this, you may well be experiencing some of these difficulties and are not sure which way to turn. At times like this, although family and friends might be supportive they don't always know what to say to help or we can feel like a burden to them.

I mainly work with adults offering long and short term counselling. I also offer couples counselling and counselling for work related issues. I am also a qualified supervisor for counsellors.

My experience covers most areas of counselling, and includes:

  • Anxiety
  • Depression including post natal
  • Stress
  • Relationship issues
  • Childhood abuse (both female and male)
  • Bereavement and loss
  • Low self esteem
  • Traumatic effects
  • Work related issues

Depression, anxiety and stress can also impact our world when we least expect it, either through loss or when our circumstances suddenly change, even though the circumstance should be joyful, such as the birth of a child. I have worked with mothers (and fathers) who have experienced post natal depression and feel totally bewildered at how they are feeling when others in the family are celebrating and they feel totally unable to do so and hide how they feel from their family.

Whatever you are experiencing it isn't something to hide from or bottle up and discussing how you feel can help. We can work at the pace that is right for you.

Member organisations

Registered / Accredited

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
