Profile

I am a fully trained counsellor and psychotherapist in private practice in Southgate. I trained using an integrative approach and my way of working is through a psychodynamic understanding and an empathic connection with my clients. I believe that the key to working successfully with you is the ability to develop a strong therapeutic relationship.

In order for counselling and psychotherapy to be helpful, it is vital that I provide a warm, safe, non-judgmental and confidential space for you and I to work through the difficulties that you are struggling with. The pace of our lives today often prevents us from being able to think about why we are feeling unhappy and I believe that counselling can be of real benefit in providing that time where you can think and talk about you.

Please do feel free to contact me either by phone or email - I look forward to hearing from you.

Training, Qualifications & Experience

Cert Counselling Skills
Cert Counselling Studies
Level IV Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling (Integrative)

In addition to formal training in counselling I have also worked extensively with alcoholics and addicts over several years.
I have a special interest in working with people living with chronic illnesses to overcome the emotional impact of such diagnoses and to manage and live their lives as fully as possible.
Over many years I have worked in pastoral care, and trained with the chaplaincy team at the Royal Free Hospital to provide pastoral care and spiritual support to patients and their family and friends, this has allowed me to work closely with bereaved individuals and families and is a large part of my work which I find extremely rewarding.

I worked as a counsellor for two years in an agency providing counselling and therapy to the LGBT community. During my time there I had the opportunity to work with several adolescents, which I enjoyed, having worked as a mentor with Connexions (Herts) prior to training as a counsellor. I would welcome the opportunity to work therapeutically with young people again and would update my enhanced disclosure from the CRB as required.

I also have a special interest in working with those who use self-injury as a way to cope with overwhelming feelings and distress.
