Profile

In over two decades in this field, I have gained the greatest respect for the individual's capacity and potential for self-determination.    

With nearly 20 years post-qualifying experience working one-to-one with adults from all walks of life and with a variety of issues and dilemmas, I am a BACP Senior Accredited Counsellor/Psychotherapist, with UKRCP registration.

My way of working is primarily psychodynamic, underpinned by an integrative approach drawing on various models, trainings and experience and this approach will always depend upon the needs and the present situation for a client. 

I have a private practice offering short and longer term work in Totnes, Exeter and Bovey Tracey.

I have worked over some time within a WPF* Network agency, including as an Intake Assessor. I have also been part of a successful initiative to set up and manage a project offering a time-limited service.

I have long periods of experience working for a University and a FE college as a staff counsellor; in NHS Primary Care as a locum General Practice counsellor; within Social Services as a counsellor to carers and I also undertake work for several Employee Assistance Programmes.

*WPF Therapy has been established for over 40yrs; the WPF Network are a national group of counselling centres with a reputation for high professional standards and ethics.

Usual fees:£38 and £40 (dependant on location)
Time-limited:£45 - £55
Deciding which might be most helpful or suitable will usually be part of the discussion in the initial consultation.*

I endeavour to offer concessionary rates negotiable according to means when possible.

*The initial consultation is an opportunity to meet face-to-face, experience what it feels like to engage and explore your present situation (maybe for the first time with another) and whether therapy seems right for you at this time. There is a flat rate fee, generally £5 more than a standard session, for this meeting which is usually for up to an hour and a half.
