I am a Senior Accredited Counsellor/Psychotherapist, with BACP registration**
With over 25 years post-qualifying experience working one-to-one with adults from all walks of life and with a variety of issues and dilemmas I have gained the greatest respect for the individual's capacity and potential for self-determination.
My way of working is primarily psychodynamic, underpinned by an integrative approach drawing on various models, trainings and experience and this approach will always depend upon the needs and the present situation for a client.
I have a private practice in Exeter & Totnes offering time-limited or longer term counselling support.
I have worked over some time within a WPF* Network agency, including as an Intake Assessor. During the years I worked within that agency I was pro-active in the organisation to provide accessible counselling to the local community also a successful initiative to set up and manage a project offering a time-limited service.
I have long periods of experience working for a University and a FE college as a staff counsellor I have also worked in NHS Primary Care as a locum General Practice counsellor and within Social Services as a counsellor to carers. BUPA registered practitioner & undertake work for several Employee Assistance Programmes.
I have extensive experience of working with family relationship issues including parenting.

I am committed to ongoing Continuing Professional Development: over the last 24 years I have attended various and many workshops, talks and lectures to support my counselling work, I have also undertaken further specific training including Solution Focused and other Time-Limited models. My previous professional career was in commercial industry and I have also worked in education.

I endeavour to offer concessionary rates negotiable according to means when possible.
*The initial consultation is an opportunity to meet face-to-face, experience what it feels like to engage and explore your present situation (maybe for the first time with another) and whether therapy seems right for you at this time. There is a flat rate fee, generally £5 more than a standard session, for this meeting which is usually for up to an hour and a half.
