Counsellor Profile
I have been interested in understanding human behaviour for many years and have had a passion to 'help' others for as long as I can remember. As a result I began to work as a support assistant in a school for pupils with emotional and/or behavioural difficulties. In addition I started to study counselling and psychotherapy which helped me understand others and communicate more effectively.
I believe everyone has the capacity to think and change (apart from the severely brain damaged). The first step to making change is to recognise the symptoms and/or problem.
Together my client and I explore their difficulties and mutually agree a way of working that will result in their desired outcome. I integrate theories and techniques specific to my client's needs in way that is respectful and non-judgemental.
All therapy is mutually agreed and confidential. I adhere to the professional and ethical codes of the Institute of Transactional Analysis (ITA) and am also a member of the BACP.
