About me

I have been a practising psychotherapist for over twenty years, registered with the UK Council of Psychotherapists (UKCP). My practice is in Cheltenham though I lived and worked in London prior to this. I worked for a number of years in London, both in private practice and in the NHS at St Thomas Hospital and within the Prison Service.

I came to practise psychotherapy after a career of many years at the Bar in London, and believe that this experience has helped me bring a fresh approach to my psychotherapy practice and, I hope, a common sense take on the problems my clients bring me. Clients seem to feel very much at ease with the friendly environment they discover on arrival. Perhaps partly because I don't just sit and nod!

Although I am trained to work psychodynamically (ie what is happening in the mind that causes conflict and unhappiness for you), I also work with anger - lots of strategies to combat this! - depression, and general relationship difficulties - in which I originally trained - including couple relationships. I work with adults and young adult I also work for large commercial companies for whom I provide critical incident support onsite (where there has been a serious incident at the place of work) and give general emotional support and guidance for their employees.

It is important to me to treat every client as an individual and I use a variety of techniques, including mindfulness and visualization,  which I am continually expanding and adapting, while exploring with the client those approaches which feel most effective for them.

I am also registered with PruHealth, Bupa, CIGNA, AXA, Aviva and the Rehabilitation Network for insurance covered therapies.
