I am a Person-centred/Integrative Counsellor, which means that I might integrate different approaches and techniques, such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Mindfulness, into my Person-centred counselling, if it is useful to do so. I counsel in my private practice, in the premises pictured below. I am a Registered Member of the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP), which is my professional body.
I want to help you to stop suffering, and to enjoy your life. My counselling service is completely confidential.
Training, qualifications & experience
I have a Diploma in counselling. For my continuing professional development, I studied to top my Counselling Diploma up to the BSc (Hons) Degree in 'Professional Counselling', at the University of Salford. On completion of this, I studied for the MSc Degree in 'Counselling & Psychotherapy Studies' - Continuing Professional Development (CPD) route, also at the University of Salford. The MSc Degree involved studying modules on 1) Integrating Mindfulness Into Counselling, 2) Trauma, 3) Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), 4) Research Methods, and 5) the writing of a final dissertation on my chosen topic of the potential benefits of Psycho-education for children in schools, using a Positive Psychological approach.
For the purposes of being aware of the latest research and development in the counselling field, for maintaining contact with other counsellors through networking, and for interest and enjoyment, I regularly attend conferences, seminars, workshops and interest groups, which are organised by my professional body, the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP), and local Counselling & Psychotherapy groups.
At the moment I counsel in my private practice. I have previous experience of counselling in other counselling contexts. These include, counselling for the NHS in Doctors' surgeries, and Doctors' patient referrals to me in other premises, and counselling for the Alcohol and Drugs Service (ADS), in ADS's association with The Criminal Justice System.
I am a Registered Member of my professional body, the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), having been awarded their Certificate of Proficiency. This relates to the BACP register, which achieved Accredited Voluntary Register status with the Professional Standards Authority, in 2013.
