Eileen McKirdy MSc.( Psych.Coun.) UKCP, MBACP
I am an experienced psychodynamic psychotherapist and counsellor - registered with UKCP, accredited by BACP and a graduate member of the Foundation for Psychotherapy and Counselling.
Like any new experience, initiating contact with a therapist/counsellor is a step into the unknown. I see an initial meeting as an important opportunity to think together about your needs and your expectations of counselling.
Whilst talking about any aspect of life that is causing you difficulty can be challenging, it can lead to greater insight into who you are, your life situation and the relationships you make. I bring to this 20 years' experience of working in both general counselling agencies and those which specialise in areas of trauma, abuse, relationship issues, bereavement and depression.
My experience has shown me that with greater self-awareness and understanding it is possible to develop new perspectives and work towards lasting change.
I also work with individuals seeking self-development either for personal reasons or professional training.
My work has encompassed a wide variety of settings. These include private practice, therapeutic unit, voluntary sector agencies and university counselling services.
