Counsellor Profile
Born and raised in South Africa, I have been living in the UK since 1973 as I had to leave South Africa for political reasons. Growing up as an Indian during the apartheid years, and integrating into British society has given me an appreciation of the interface of cultures, and my exploration of the multicultural life continues due to my recent marriage to my wife, who is German. My wife is also a practicing psychotherapist, and currently works at a London hospital. I have two sons from a previous marriage, aged 22 and 25. I have a wonderful relationship with both my sons as well as with Barbara, their mother. As far as my career is concerned it can best be described as chequered. I began my working life as a qualified textile technologist, I then left textiles to study architectural design, before founding and running a sole distributorship business marketing artistic and trendy stationery. I later trained as a life coach and then as an executive coach. Having eventually realized that I was particularly interested in what makes people tick, I finally chose to train as a psychotherapist. Much of the 1970's and 80's were spent in search of self and the 'truth' which led me to various Western and Eastern spiritual explorations as well as African and Native American Indian practices and ultimately existential philosophy and existential/phenomenological psychotherapy. The truth is, as far as I am concerned, whatever one believes is the truth. I, on the other hand, am aware that I will never know the truth. I therefore consider myself an agnostic, which enables me to accept other people for who they are and be with them from a sincerely unknowing and non-judgemental space. This way of being is reflected in the way I conduct myself as a psychotherapist.

Extra Information
There is a real possibility that you will achieve the life you desire in all respects if you fully participate in the therapy I provide but it will depend ultimately on the level of your commitment. You will achieve your desired outcome if we are able to to dissolve the resistance in the therapy. So it is up to you to play ball so to speak. If you are interested, give me a call because you have the real possibility to make it.
