Profile

I am a qualified and experienced counsellor for individuals and couples, working in Beccles. I offer warmth and respect, as well as my training and experience, and see counselling as an opportunity for us to explore, and ease, your distress or feelings of stuckness. Often, our present difficulties are rooted in the past, and by becoming aware of this connection, we can learn to change negative beliefs about ourselves and have more choice in how we live our lives.

Confidential counselling can be a way to talk freely about your difficulties without burdening friends or family, and without being judged or criticised. We all have hidden resources inside, and counselling can help us to tap into these resources, explore inner conflicts, increase our self-esteem, and develop our potential for better relationships.

I trained as a counsellor at Re-Vision (www.re-vision.org.uk) in Integrative Psychosynthesis, a holistic approach which includes mind, body, heart, soul and spirit. I use a variety of approaches and techniques, depending on what you need. In my experience, distress and anxiety sometimes arise from negative or obsessive thoughts and an over-active mind. I therefore include approaches that encourage awareness in the present moment, and bring attention to body and feelings, to give an experience of relaxation and peace.

Before I trained as a counsellor, I had 20 years' experience as a social worker in the NHS and community, working with people from many different cultures and backgrounds.  I also trained for 3 years in Gestalt therapy.
