Profile
I am a Cognitive Behavioural Therapist, and have worked as one for the last ten years. CBT is a positive, solution-focused therapy that is less concerned with the distant origins of a problem and more with what is maintaining your difficulties now and how to resolve them. It is becoming better known as good therapy that works quickly and gives positive, lasting results.
In case you have private medical insurance, you may wish to know that I am BUPA registered and most other insurance companies will also accept this and allow you to use your insurance to pay for CBT. I have a private practice at Epsom, Surrey, and also work at a private psychiatric clinic in Kent. I undertake some corporate work, and have authored several books (the most recent of which is entitled, "Teach Yourself CBT" published by Hodder and Stoughton. For further book details, go to Amazon.co.uk).
I am pleased to see both individuals and couples for therapy.
My expertise is varied, and it would perhaps be simpler to mention problems I do not work with, rather than those that I do. These areas are drug and alcohol abuse, eating disorders, psycho-sexual counselling, and working with children under the age of 14. This is because there are other counsellors more specialised in these particular areas who would be your best resource.
I most commonly work with depression, anxiety disorders (which might include general anxiety, phobic anxiety, panic, health or social anxiety and OCD), stress, relationship problems, anger management and difficulties in the workplace (I have a background in HR which helps in this regard). However, CBT will resolve most problems, no matter how unusual the client feels that they are.

Fees
If you have private medical cover, I am BUPA registered, and most other insurance companies will also accept this and allow you to use your insurance to pay for CBT. My fee for those who are self funding is currently £60 per session. However, where these fees are a problem, do let me know, as I do offer a small number of discounted sessions. Wherever possible, I would not would wish that financial difficulties be the main reason a client does not undergo counselling.
Further Information
I do have a professional pack detailing my Practice Details, and would be most happy to send this, either in the post or via email if you let me have your postal or email address. This will then allow you to consider whether this type of therapy, and I as a therapist, would be right for you before you commit yourself to an appointment.
Initial appointments are always a one off and there is no further commitment unless you feel confident that further sessions of therapy would be helpful to you.
