Extra Information
Counselling can be a tremendous help if you have problems. You can benefit from talking through and exploring your thoughts and feelings in a safe and peaceful environment. Most people experience emotional difficulties at some point in their lives, however, certain difficulties cannot easily be resolved and seeing a suitably qualified therapist can be very useful during these periods.
Therapy provides time for deep self reflection. It also provides an opportunity to discover complex and largely unknown ways in which past experiences are unhelpfully influencing the present. Often therapy can give you the coping strategies you need.
Following the initial assessment, the standard procedure is to meet at the same time every week for an agreed number of sessions. Short term counselling usually lasts between 6 -12 sessions, but sometimes just one or two sessions can do the trick! You can also opt for extended sessions; if you feel longer term therapy would be more appropriate.
Picking up the phone to make that first appointment takes a lot of courage, but please rest assured that I will be very aware of how upset you may be feeling, and will do my best to put you at your ease.
