Profile

I became interested in counselling when my children were young and my husband was out of work. Our relationship was affected by the stresses of our situation and my husband had become depressed. He was directed to a counsellor by his GP and he regained his sense of purpose and enthusiasm through his experience. I became curious about the process and interested in learning more. Subsequently I volunteered as a youth counsellor, did some training and at a later date joined Relate where I gained the Relate Certificate in Marital and Couple Counselling after 3 years training. I worked successfully with couples and individuals who were having relationship difficulties. In 1994 I trained to become a Relate supervisor and gained The Relate Certificate in Supervision. In 2001 and 2005 I completed the Relate Systemic Intermediate Certificate (accredited by The Institute of Family Therapy) and was able to expand my practice by working with family groups.

I now work as a Clinical Manager for Relate and also have a private practice. I have helped many hundreds of clients with relationship chalenges and most of them have experienced beneficial changes as a result of the work we have done together. I firmly believe that counselling can give people new hope when they think that the problems they face are insurmountable.

This year I have helped clients with the following presenting problems; Affairs, IVF & Conception, Separation, Stepfamily problems, Sexual difficulties, Arguments, Cultural differences, Family Communication, and many others.

I also offer couple counselling supervision to other practitioners

I offer a calm and friendly environment in which clients can improve their lives by understanding more about themselves and the perspectives of others.

Fees

I offer a flexible appointment system which takes into account both client needs and availability. For example it may be appropriate to have a 2 weekly appointment at a regular time of the day or a weekly slot at differing times. Each appointment is usually an hour (families may be longer.) I charge £45 an hour for an evening or early morning slot and £40 during the day. The charge is the same for individuals or couples.

This year I have attended a courses on Solution Focused Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for Couples and Working Sysemically with Sexual Issues.
