About me

PLEASE NOTE: I HAVE NO AVAILABILITY AT PRESENT. THANK YOU.

I offer open-ended and short-term counselling in Cookham, Berkshire within a wide range of issues:
Fear of Flying (EMDR),  Couples Counselling,  Confidence Issues, Panic and Anxiety Attacks, Work stress and Depression, as well as Coaching, Mediation and Stress Management Consultancy. I also work with Fear of Travelling on Trains and Tubes (EMDR), OCD and Phobias.
Fully trained and with extensive experience in working with PTSD both in my private practice and as a registered provider for most of the major UK Insurance Companies and EAP's (Employee Assistance Programme). I am also an PFOA approved counsellor.

In addition I offer a Chronic Pain Protocol using the EMDR Model.
Sometimes pain can continue longer than expected. Long term pain can lead to changes in the nervous system causing the pain to become 'locked' in the nervous system. EMDR is a means of stimulating the nervous system to help it change the pain response.
It does not of course remove the causation or medical condition. It simply creates a different reponse to the pain.

I also provide therapeutic services, including counselling and trauma management, for major Employee Assistance Providers, Human Resource Departments and Private Health Care Companies in the UK and am a registered provider for most of the major UK Insurance Companies and EAP's

My counselling orientation is Eclecticism. This approach gives both myself and my clients the freedom and the flexibility to work within a wide range of counselling approaches including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. In other words, the client does not have to fit into an already prescribed model. The model is instead individually fitted to the needs of each client. My style is warm, though pragmatic, and feedback from clients would seem to indicate that I am easy to talk to. I believe it is necessary to be able to demonstrate understanding and respect for the client's 'story' before a client can feel sufficiently confident and supported to move forward within the work.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
