Fiona Lambert Counsellor and Psychotherapist (UKCP)
01245 349445 / 07813873192
As a counsellor and psychotherapist with over 20 years experience of working in private practice
and the NHS, I understand how emotional difficulties can affect every aspect of life; relationships, work, as well as the way you feel about yourself. It can lead to feelings of anxiety, depression, irritability and a general dissatisfaction with life.
For many people the thought of meeting with a counsellor or therapist can be daunting. You might be worried that your problems are not serious enough or you can find no obvious reason to explain why you feel this way. Other people may have a clear idea of why they are struggling but having this knowledge has not prevented them from suffering or behaving in ways which they find unhelpful but keep repeating.
My role is to provide a confidential and secure space to help explore these difficulties and so gain a greater understanding of the underlying causes. This can provide a sense of relief, enable changes to be made and give you a greater sense of control over your life.
Who comes for counselling and psychotherapy?
People come for many different reasons, often when they feel at a crisis point or that things have simply got to change. You may have a particular issue that has been troubling you, a pattern of things that keep going wrong or you may feel a general dissatisfaction with life that you cannot quite explain to yourself.
What happens in the initial consultation?
The first meeting will be opportunity to tell me about yourself, to discuss what has brought you to seek therapy, to get a sense of the way we might work together and for us to explore whether what I offer feels right for you. We will also think about whether short term work focusing on a particular issue or longer term open ended therapy is more appropriate. This is also a time for you to ask any questions you may have.
What happens after that?
I will generally see you on a weekly basis and each session will be 50 minutes though this can be more frequent if needed. I work weekdays and evenings.
Where will this take place?
My consulting room is in central Chelmsford.
