Counsellor Profile

I have a passionate interest in people and relationships and believe that counselling offers a chance to reach your own understandings, discover your own identity, and generate your own solutions and healing from within yourself. You will not be offered advice or told what to do with your life, but instead be offered skilled help to address your own personal difficulties. I seek to create a warm, supportive, non-judgemental and respectful relationship but will also try to offer some appropriate challenge to help you grow through the counselling process. The aim is to provide an opportunity for you to work towards living in a more satisfying and resourceful way and perhaps to look at life from fresh perspectives. I seek to discover and nourish your strengths and thus help you to develop more confidence to find solutions to your problems.
I offer both short-term and open ended counselling.

Training, Qualifications & Experience (more info)

I have a certificate in Counselling (1999) and an Advanced Diploma in Integrative Counselling (2001). I also hold a primary certificate in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy from the Centre for Stress Management in London. I am qualified in Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) -see misc below.

I am BACP Accredited and UKRC and BACP Registered, and have been in private practice since 2001. I have 8 years experience counselling adults of all ages and backgrounds through Emmaus Counselling Service (Guildford) and have worked with students at Royal Holloway University and staff at Royal Surrey County Hospital. Additionally I am a member of the network of Counsellors and Psychotherapists at Surrey Oaklands NHS Trust - the Department of Pastoral and Spiritual Care, where I attend Continuing Professional Development workshops.

    Extra Information

EFT is a powerful method of reducing stress and anxiety and can deal with any negative emotion. It also calms you so that you can think more clearly about your problem. It is based on the idea that the cause of all negative emotions is a disruption in the body's energy system.
