I am a UKCP accredited psychotherapist working in private practice since June 2000. I have also worked in the NHS and specialist addiction treatment centres.

I came to counselling from a career working as a volunteer overseas and then in organic farming in Britain. I started my training after a long illness that stopped me working in agriculture. My background has given me a respect for the diversity and the rhythms of nature and the mind.

I believe that, whatever the problem, in counselling we are looking for someone who can hear and understand how we feel, and be alongside us as we try to make sense of it. This is what I aim to do, and have found that this in itself often leads to resolution.

In addition to my private practice I am currently working with a local mental health charity to set up a counselling service for its members and carers in the South Hams District.

I also maintain my interest in addictions and work both directly on the addictive tendencies using cognitive techniques and with the underlying issues, such as trauma and abuse, that have caused them.

I have a special interest in trauma, and am trained in EMDR (eye movement desensitisation and reprocessing) a scientifically researched technique that has proved very effective with Post traumatic Stress Disorder.
