Counsellor Profile
I offer a confidential counselling service in a safe and supportive environment, which is very private. I work with individuals of both sexes, and with couples. I am experienced in counselling trainee counsellors on diploma courses. I help people to grow in understanding and awareness of the difficulties which they are experiencing, which may be linked with past events and may still be impacting on their lives in a negative way. I help them to get in touch with their feelings, and enable them to lead more fulfilling lives. This may be short or long-term work.
Training, Qualifications & Experience (more info)
I have a diploma in psychodynamic counselling, an accredited course, from the Chelmsford Counselling Foundation, an affiliate of the Westminster Pastoral Foundation, and I am a registered member of BACP and work within their recommended ethical guidelines. I have an Honours degree in social work, and I also have a teaching qualification. I have worked for over 10 years with individuals in a wide variety of settings, in schools, in the Health service and within the probation service and social care settings. I have worked in the voluntary sector as a marriage guidance counsellor with over 8 years experience. I have extensive experience of working with the long-term effects of abuse, and I have worked with women who are recovering from domestic violence and abuse. I have experience of the long-term effects of divorce and separation, and of relationship and identity issues.
