Counsellor Profile

I am an experienced counsellor and counselling supervisor, who works in an integrative way (person-centred, CBT). I work with the belief that people have, within themselves, the resources needed for personal change and/or mindfulness.

The (therapeutic) relationship between the counsellor and the client is an important primary focus, and I strive to ensure that the core conditions of respect, empathy and genuiness are always there as a basic need.

As a practitioner I have professional experience of working in a number of different settings, e.g. PCT's, CRUSE Bereavement Care, Occupational Health, Voluntary + Community as well as in private practice.

I have a particular interest in women's issues, bereavement and loss (attatchment/seperation), and eating disorders (of which I have some personal experience).

Training, Qualifications & Experience (more info)

Dip.Couns., PG Cert Sup., MBACP.

I am a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), and as such I abide by their Ethical Framework for Good Practice in Counselling and Psychotherapy, (which is inclusive of their Conduct Procedure).

As part of my professional development I regularly undertake further training, and attend monthly supervision to help ensure the safe monitoring of my own practice.

Areas of counselling I deal with

  • Abuse
  • Anxiety
  • Bereavement
  • Depression
  • Eating Disorders
  • Low Self-Confidence
  • Low Self-Esteem
  • Relationship Issues
  • Sexuality
  • Stress
  • Trauma
  • Work Related Issues

  • Fees

I charge £25.00 per session lasting one hour, and offer a free initial assessment session (up to 45 mins). This is a useful way of helping both of us to decide if we would like to work together, without either party feeling under any obligation to continue.

It is important that you feel at ease with the therapist you've choosen, and I would actively encourage people seeking counselling to spend some time searching.

Trainee counsellors seeking personal therapy as part of their course criteria are very welcome.

    Extra Information

I also have significant experience supervising counselling trainee's, as well as more established counsellors, and see students from a wide area, e.g. Barnsley, Rotherham, Sheffield, Worksop, etc.

I offer not only clinical supervision while on placement but also mentoring aspects and support, with an emphasis on your individual personal and professional development.

I work primarily with individuals but would also consider facilitating groups, for either therapy or supervision.
