About me

I am a person-centred therapist, registered and accredited with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy.  I am a qualified psychosexual and relationship therapist, an advanced, accedited GSRD therapist (gender, sex and relationship diversities) and a qualified supervisor.  Our initial session will be an opportunity for you talk about your concerns, experience how I work and decide if you feel comfortable working with me. I consider the relationship between counsellor and client to be essential to the therapeutic process. My aim is to offer you a confidential, safe, understanding and non-judgemental space where you can explore your concerns at your own pace.

Post Graduate Diploma in Supervision (2013)
BACP Accredited Counsellor/Psychotherapist (2010)

B.A. Hons, Fine Art (1985)

I offer therapy to adults and young people in South East London, and nationally and internationally via Zoom, Skype and other online platforms. I have experience of working with a wide range of issues including depression, low self-esteem, life crisis and change, gender and sexuality issues, bereavement and loss, self-harm, divorce, relationship and family problems. I work with people in alternative relationships and those who identify as gender queer.

I have experience of running a school counselling service and worked as a volunteer counsellor at the Metro Centre, an organisation offering services to the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender communities in South East London.

My article, 'A Kink in the Process' was published in the July 2010 issue of Therapy Today, the journal produced by the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy. You can follow the link to the article here: http://www.therapytoday.net/article/52/categories/

I deliver training to counsellors and therapists on raising awareness of and working sensitively with people with alternative sexualities (BDSM) for Pink Therapy and a number of other organisations.  I am a qualified and experienced clinical supervisor, providing supervision to individual therapists and to groups within community counselling services.

I gained my degree in Fine Art from Camberwell School of Art and see many people who work within the visual and performing arts.

I also have extensive experience in the social care sector, working with people with physical/learning disabilities.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Other areas of counselling I deal with

I work with people who identify as having an alternative sexuality, are in alternative relationships or who may have concerns regarding their sexuality, sexual identity or sexual practices. This includes people who are in polyamorous or asexual relationships and people who identify as 'kink' or practice BDSM (bondage, dominance, discipline, submission, sadomasochism).

I also work with people exploring their gender identity, or who are considering beginning the process of transition, or who are in the process of or have completed transition.
