Profile

I am a clinical psychotherapist with fifteen years experience, offering services at London Bridge. I trained at Guy's and St. Thomas's hospitals, where I also taught and offered clinical supervision. I am a qualified ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy) practitioner. As well, I use cognitive analytic (C.A.T.) tools, but often work integratively, employing buddhist principles of mindfulness and as well, pyschological type.

I offer different modes and levels of service -- from psychotherapy, counselling, to life and career coaching. As a Career Coach, I bring my 20 experience as a senior marketing executive and trainer, as well as my experience as the Past President of the British Association of Psychological Type.

From a counselling perspective, I view psychological difficulties as early coping mechanisms which are either outgrown, unhelpful or even destructive. The task of therapy becomes to understand oneself more thoroughly and' realistically; to learn who we are, what we value -- and new, effective ways of coping and being that are more satisfying. We then need to take a fresh look at the strategies we use to relate to ourselves and others; where they come from and how they might usefully be changed for the better.

Training, Qualifications & Experience

I have an MSc in Counselling Psychology from City University in London, and a postgraduate diploma in Clinical Psychotherapy from King's College London. I am also trained to the Intermediate Level in ACT (Acceptance & Commitment Therapy) by the Mindfulness Training Institute. I am accredited by the Association of Cognitive Analytic Therapists (ACAT) as a psychotherapist, and supervisor. I have eight years experience in the NHS both in hospital settings and primary care, and seven years of private practice. I am UKCP registered and as well am qualified by the OPP to administer the MBTI®. I am Past President of the British Association for Psychological Type.
