Jim Robinson MBACP (Accred)
3 Station Road
I offer individual counselling and psychotherapy, relationship counselling and group work, from my practice here in Withyham on the East Sussex / Kent border. I have been practicing for over ten years and am a BACP accredited counsellor and psychotherapist, a UKAHPP accredited psychotherapist and UKCP registered psychotherapist.
Therapy works by firstly supporting us to increase our awareness of ourselves, helping us to see more deeply what is going on and how we work. This new awareness comes from looking at our feelings, our thoughts and our bodies and how each affects the others. The patterns that emerge from this enable us to start to see what has been driving us be the way we are. It is with this new information that we can starts to understand ourselves, that we are not 'mad' or 'bad' and that we have simply been surviving the best way we could.
My background is Humanistic / Gestalt in orientation, which means that I focus on investigating our here and now experience and how we hold the unfinished from our past in the present. Also how this restricts our freedom to simply be ourselves. Starting to take responsibility for ourselves, especially for our feelings and our 'victim place', can be tough work, but it is part of finding freedom from our conditioning which is a wonderfully rewarding and meaningful process.
Please see my website for further information about my approach.
