Counsellor Profile

I am a BACP accredited counsellor with over seven years experience in private practice, employee assistance programmes, occupational health, mental health charities, GP practice and the Centre for Women’s Health.
From that I have gained considerable experience in a wide range of issues and specifically in working with people
experiencing work related stress.

I have had specific training with Babette Rothschild in somatic trauma (see www.trauma.cc ) and experience in the area of supporting people recovering from a traumatic event.

A large part of 1:1 work has also been job and life coaching; helping people to reflect on life purpose and direction.
I originally trained in person-centred counselling, and now use a wide range of approaches in my work.
I am interested in Focusing-Oriented Psychotherapy (www.dwelling.me.uk.) and Hakomi (www.hakomiinstitute.com )

Extra Information

I am also a creative trainer and group worker with considerable experience in the voluntary sector. I have offered training to groups of children, young people, women, parents, and teachers through roles such as Childline’s Training and Outreach worker, Glasgow Youth Advisor with the Church of Scotland as well as on a freelance basis. I enjoy delivering training on listening and communicating skills, assertiveness, presentation skills, personal vision and development, confidence building and self-esteem.
