Profile

I am an experienced BACP Accredited counsellor with over 19 years experience gained through working in a variety of settings, both with voluntary agencies and within the public & private sectors. I have extensive experience working with anger issues, addictions, stress & anxiety & many other personal issues through open ended or short term counselling.

I have an integrative approach to counselling, meaning my beliefs are that individuals deserve acceptance & understanding & are capable of change. You create your own meaning, you are the expert on yourself & you have the potential to become self empowered through the counselling relationship.

I am currently undertaking EMDR training and have completed Part 1 which enables me to work with single event traumas. EMDR involves recalling a stressful past event and "reprogramming" the memory using rapid eye movements to facilitate the process. Key element of EMDR is the process of "dual stimulation"

I also provide Clinical Supervision for student & qualified counsellors and for organisations, schools & other workplaces. I am Accredited by the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy & work within their ethical framework.

Undertaking EMDR training through EMDR works and have completed Part 1 enabling me to work with single event traumas.  

I am trained in conducting debriefings, managing stress & anxiety and working with alcohol issues & other addictions.

In recent years I have taken workshops regarding alcohol issues,personal & professional development & have worked as a tutor teaching Counselling Courses Levels 1 & CPCAB level 3.
