About me

Counselling for Individuals and Couples.

As you read this, I want you to know I understand the importance of finding the right Therapist. Engaging in therapy is an important step - making that first move, whether as an individual or as part of a couple exploring therapy.

The counselling relationship is a unique, collaborative relationship, focused on outcomes, feeling better and getting life back on a sure footing again, remaining safe in the knowledge that you are at the heart of the relationship.

I am an experienced, qualified, professional Counsellor, Psychotherapist and working with you in a warm, safe and non judgmental environment. I am a registered and accredited Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy - MBACP (Accred) as well as a Member of the AFT and member of EMDR All Ireland and EMDR UK.

Training, qualifications & experience

It is important for you to be comfortable that you have chosen a Counsellor who is warm, approachable, skilled, able and qualified to work in a professional capacity, with you at the heart of the work. What most clients find helpful is working with a solution focused brief therapeutic approach, focusing on what you want instead of what may be happening.

I have a PG Dip Systemic Practice & Family Therapy,  for systemic work with individuals and couples, an Advanced Diploma in Integrative Counselling (BACP accredited Course) and a Diploma in Counselling from Guildford College.

Additionally, I hold Post Qualifying Certificate in Couples Counselling, Certificates in both Counselling Studies and Skills and a Diploma in Coaching.

Furthermore, I am trained in EMDR, (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing, working towards accreditation status.  With a BSc in Human Communication. I'm also a qualified Master Practitioner in NLP Neuro Linguistic Programming, a powerful tool to work with on transformation.

I am an Approved Clinical Supervisor (British Psychological Society) for trainee and experienced Counsellors.

Registered / Accredited

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Other areas of counselling I deal with

I also work with clients who want to work with a Coach, who prefer life coaching for improved confidence, personal leadership and self-mastery - or specifically to focus on important goals in life that are meaningful and close to the heart.

Working this way means you can work towards achieving a specific goal, in a specified timescale, rather than seeking to resolve any deeper issues. This approach really works for people who feel that counselling may not be what they want or require.
