Counsellor Profile
My interest and work in counselling has developed over a period of 20 years. I have always had a passionate interest in how we become the people we are,why we repeat the same old patterns in life, such as poor relationships, what can we do to live life in a more satisfying way - are there any choices. I have come to believe that we all have the potential to choose our path in life, to make choices and to change what is not working for us and causing distress. My aim is to provide a safe, non-judgemental space for you to explore your issues and become aware of stuck thoughts, feelings and behaviour. As a counsellor I will not tell you what to do but help you to make your own life choices. I would see you initially for an assessment session to decide if I can help and if you want to work with me. If you do we would initially meet for maybe 6 - 10 sessions then review. It will be up to you to decide to finish or to stay as long as you need . I offer short solution-focussed counselling and long-term open-ended therapy. My approach is integrative and I draw on all three schools of counselling, but my fundamental approach is humanistic. I am a member of BACP, adhere to this code of ethics and am working towards Accreditation. I am fully insured to practice.
