Profile

Thank you for accessing my profile.

Most of us experience at some time in our lives pain, difficulties, challenges, indecisiveness, a feeling sometimes of a dissatisfaction with life and not being on right `track'. Talking to family and friends can help but sometimes they want what they think is best for us or we don't want to worry them.

My aim is to provide a safe, welcoming and confidential space whereby you can explore stuck thoughts, feelings and behaviour. With greater awareness and using inner wisdom and intuition it is possible to gain clarity on whatever is affecting your well-being. Greater awareness can lead to changing destructive patterns in life/relationships that are not working and to live in a more satisfying way.

My interest and work in counselling has developed over a period of 20 years. I have always had a passionate interest in how we become the people we are,why we repeat the same old patterns in life, such as poor relationships.

I have worked, studied and trained in a variety of settings, voluntary organisations, work environments, educational establishments and have a flourishing private practice. Throughout the past 20 years I have also been on my own life journey and   have come to believe that, with increasing awareness, we all have the potential to make healthier choices in life and to change whatever is not working for us.

I would see you initially for an assessment session to decide if I can help and if you want to work with me. If you do we would initially meet for maybe 6 - 10 sessions then review. It will be up to you to decide to finish or to stay as long as you need. I offer short solution-focussed and also longer term Counselling.

I also offer Psychotherapy for deeper work to access early childhood experiences. Our relationships with primary care-givers  may have been subject to inconsistencies or abuse. Defences made in childhood for protection may be contributing to adult `here and now' distress.

My approach is Integrative/Relational and I draw on Person-centred, Psychodynamic and Transpersonal models, incorporating Gestalt, Transactional Analysis, NLP and Jungian Psychology. I believe, however, that the therapeutic relationship between myself and my client is the main source of healing.

I am a member of the UK  Association of  Humanistic Psychology Practitioners  and adhere to this code of ethics. I am fully insured to practice. I attend Clinical Supervision on a regular basis and am fully committed to my own personal and professional development.

I work with Individuals, Couples, Teenagers, Families.
