About me

Individuals, Couples, Families

In Practice since 2001 working with Anxiety, Stress, Anger, Depression, Alcohol, Addiction, Despair, Sadness, Panic, Adjustment,  Uncertainty, Rage, Relationships, Worry, Depression, Bereavement/Loss, Affairs, Betrayal, Shame, Guilt, Self-Esteem, Self-Worth, OCD, Low Mood, Trauma, Crisis, Self harm, Suicidal thoughts, Confidence, Separation, Divorce,  Sexual Abuse, Violence, Crime, Parenting,  Co-dependency, Childhood Trauma, Neglect ....... and sometimes it's just about what it is to be you.

  • When we keep things locked up inside.... that's where they stay.
  • We often worry about things that haven't .... and may not happen.
  • The way to solve problems... is to live a life in a way that makes them disappear.
  • Coming to therapy can be challenging, painful and also an enlightening process of discovery.
  • If you find yourself drowning in uncertainty, stay calm, take a breath, look around and inside, choose to fight, flight, freeze ..... or better to flow.
  • Understanding the story behind you....can help you make sense of your story today and ahead.
  • Happiness isn't always about getting what you want.... It's about wanting what you get.
  • If you take care about what you eat, then take care about what you feed your mind...
  • Acceptance, adjustment and adapting...

Many of us are living through challenging times. Life is always changing. By accepting, adjusting and adapting to the change it can cease to be a struggle.

You may be feeling down, uncertain about many things, alienated, depleted, wretched, sad or worried about something, you may be hoping to make changes in your life and or your behaviour.

Perhaps you are looking for answers, reasons, purpose and meaning, you may be feeling unfulfilled, unproductive, trapped or alienated from work, family and friends.

We can find the best way to navigate and cope in the 'here-and-now' and we can explore how you got there and where you are going.

You may be considering counselling for something specific such as Anxiety, Depression, Anger, Relationships, Bereavement and loss, self esteem and confidence, Alcohol and Addiction and you may be looking for longer term psychotherapy.

Often the two, Counselling and Psychotherapy, go hand in hand.

I have been working as a counsellor and psychotherapist in clinical settings since 2001 and Private Practice since 2005. BACP Accredited in 2006, BACP Senior Accredited in 2012 and working as a Consultant and Clinical Supervisor since 2005.

I can provide counselling/psychotherapy appointments to adults, couples, families, adolescents and in some circumstances children.

To fit in with your  schedules, telephone and/or Zoom / Skype sessions are also possible.
I also am able to work with a Philosophy and Egan based personal coaching model.

My practice is set in private, anonymous and secure consultation rooms accessed by an entry phone system in Battersea.
Please see photograph of consultation room below.

Sessions are 50-minutes in length and are usually weekly.
If you are looking for twice weekly or fortnightly sessions please let me know when you contact me. I can offer flexible appointments to fit in with your changing schedule.
I provide appointments in the daytime, evening and some Saturdays.

During your first appointment we can discuss what brings you to counselling.  We can discuss what you are looking for and how to integrate and blend an appropriate helpful therapeutic approach that best fits you.

Over the years, I have developed an Eclectic/Pluralistic approach.
In other words I am non-dogmatic to any particular way of working. We can work in response to your needs in short-term or longer-term therapy as well as personal consultation/coaching.
For example you will be able to work within Humanistic, Integrative, Family-Systemic, CBT, Mindfulness, Psychodynamic and Existential models as you focus on what it's like to be you and on what's going on in your life today.

If appropriate, I am able to use hypnotherapeutic tools involving grounding and relaxation exercises alongside guided and/or creative visualisation techniques.

I have trained and have workplace and private practice experience of using Trauma Incident Reduction (TIR) ( sometimes called 'Rewind Therapy') techniques and tools if required.

Member organisations

Registered / Accredited

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information

As you have found your way here, it might be safe to say you are searching for answers, something is bothering you or you are considering making some change in your life.

Perhaps you have decided it’s time to talk to someone other than a friend, family member or work colleague and to share things about yourself that you wish to be held in a professional, non-judgemental, confidential and safe manner.

Maybe you are concerned about some behaviour that’s affecting you, your friends, family or work. Perhaps you wish to get away from or find a way to adapt to a difficult situation you find yourself in.

You may be in crisis or have experienced a recent trauma, loss of a loved one or are unsure why you are feeling the way you are.
You may have memories, thoughts and feelings that are bothering you.

Perhaps you feel trapped and things are unravelling.

Dreams and poor sleep may be affecting you. You have already had therapy and wish to start up once more, are looking for something different or wish to give yourself further time to talk about your life.

Counselling and psychotherapy can help. Before you decide to go further, however, please be mindful that therapy can be challenging, and takes time and commitment.

Revealing things about yourself to a stranger may be unfamiliar to you at first and it may take a while for you to settle. Or that neutral space may be just what you need.

What you can learn about yourself, how you can come to accept your experience, make changes in your perception of your world, find understanding of your thoughts, feelings, emotions and behaviour and can be deeply rewarding and profoundly life-changing.

There are no guarantees in this work and it will be up to you how far you wish to go and at what pace. We will work together in response to your needs and this can involve short-term or longer-term therapy.

CONFIDENTIALITY
It is important that you know that all our contact is treated with confidentiality as a sacred part of our engagement and when we meet for the initial appointment meeting we can discuss this further and I will answer any questions you may have.

Please call or email to dicsuss what you are looking for.
