Dr Anastasios Gaitanidis, BSc, PGDip, MA, PhD | |
Counsellor ProfileI have worked as a Psychodynamic Counsellor and Psychotherapist both privately and for Charity organisations since 1996.
Central to my therapeutic perspective is the belief that my clients need to experience their growing sense of self in a facilitating environment which promotes their psychological health.
For this reason, I want my clients to feel safe, valued and accepted. I also approach their problems in an empathic, concerned and genuine way that is non- judgemental.
I use the rich symbolic language of different psychodynamic models to explore the ways in which my clients' representations of past and present relationships are formed and the effects they have on their psychological development.
Moreover, I strongly believe that counselling and psychotherapy can contribute immensely to the amelioration of individual and social problems. For this reason, I have been teaching Counselling in several Higher Education Institutions since 1999. I am currently a Lecturer for the MA in Counselling at Goldsmiths (University of London) and a Lecturer for the Certificate in Counselling at Cambridge University.
