About me

Anxiety and or depression can develop from experiencing difficult life events or using self-defeating patterns of thinking and behaving to cope. I am a qualified Doctor of Psychology and also an experienced relationship counsellor who has worked successfully in the field for 17 years. I currently work in both my private practice (individuals and couples) and in a private hospital specialising in acute and enduring mental health problems (individual and group therapy) for different types of depression and anxiety related conditions.

I offer a confidential, warm, safe and non-judgemental environment to help when life has become confusing, overwhelming and difficult for any reason.  Change is the aim of therapy and as is dictated by my training, I use several therapeutic models of therapy to explore, understand and work towards the resolution of unhelpful and painful feelings and responses to whatever situation one is facing. It is said that the most productive and successful therapy occurs through the development of a trusting, reliable and safe relationship between both the therapist and the person seeking support and help. My feeling is that no one should be alone when attempting to cope with or heal confusing and painful issues.

To that end I use CBT (cognitive behavioural therapy), psychodynamic and humanistic models to help navigate and deal with emotional, psychological and behavioural troubles. In addition to those models of therapy I also use hypnotherapy and NLP depending on your needs.

I have worked with people ranging from teenagers to adults of all ages. I am currently embarking on an EMDR training to further help people suffering from traumatic experiences.

Training, qualifications & experience

Additionally, I am certified in NLP and Hypnotherapy. For the last seven years I have worked in GP surgeries, the NHS, organizations providing teenagers with counselling and psychological support and acute psychiatric hospitals.
