Profile

Our journey through life is hopefully a long one. However, at times, there are twists and turns in the road, bumps that trip us up, and walls that we just cannot break down.  We can sometimes feel hurt, lost and disorientated, or even lose our way.
Talking to someone who is willing to listen closely to your story, stay beside you in your pain and sadness and remain accepting and non-judgemental, can often help you through the most difficult times.  Sometimes you may just want some quiet time to think through your problems and clarify your thoughts. It may be difficult for you to put your feelings into words and would like to try and put them on paper instead. Whatever it is you want from counselling, can be discussed during our first session.

I can offer you a safe and accepting environment where we can work together exploring any life issues you may be experiencing in an effort to find a way forward.

If you live within a five mile radius of Braintree and would like counselling but cannot
manage to travel to my address (due to disability or young children), I can visit you in your home.

Sessions are usually on a weekly basis for one hour.

Training, Qualifications & Experience

I began my formal counselling training in 1996 and hold an Advanced Diploma in Person Centred Counselling which is accredited by the British Association for Counsellors and Psychotherapists.  I am a full member of this organisation, and adhere to the Ethical Framework for Counsellors and Psychotherapists

I  receive monthly supervision with a fully qualified Supervisor, and hold Certificates in Supervision, CBT Skills and Art Therapy, and a Diploma in Hypnotherapy.

I have experience of mental health issues, bereavement and loss, disability, concerns of the elderly, depression, anxiety and relationship and gender issues. I worked for several years as a counsellor for Open Door (Young People) and also for Age Concern Uk.  I began my own private counselling practice in 2007, for which I hold full insurance cover.

I also attend professional development days and other short courses to enhance my practice.
