Profile

I work as a BACP accredited psychotherapeutic counsellor and I trained at The Westminster Pastoral Foundation and The Metanoia Institute. I would describe my approach as Humanistic/Person Centred which means that I work in a confidential and non-judgmental way believing that everyone is unique and has the right to respect and autonomy. I try to understand the client's world from their point of view and if I believe it appropriate for the client I will draw on my knowledge of other appraoches to counselling such as CBT or Transactional Analysis. My training in EMDR has enabled me to work very seffectively with phobia, depression, anxiety, trauma and abuse. Perhaps you have repressed or bottled up feelings. Maybe you are feeling angry, anxious, depressed or fearful. It may be a time when you need to make a difficult decision or understand an issue. Counselling can help and it will give you an opportunity to explore your feelings in a completely confidential way. It can sometimes be difficult to make that first contact and I will do my best to make this as easy as possible for you. Perhaps it might help if we a have a brief talk on the phone before we meet. I enjoy working both with individuals and with couples. I am, for example, very interested in the challenges which couples may face when they adopt children. I am aware that it is a lengthy process which can prove very difficult and that it may be important when the child becomes part of the home that couples have support and an opportunity to talk in a confidential way about how they feel.I am of course also interested in the other problems which heterosexual and gay couples may face.
