Profile
I work with people rather than issues and therefore am interested in everything about you and how you interact with yourself, your environment and others, including me. Issues you may bring could be around work, family, relationships, anxiety, phobias, depression, disability, addictions, loss and separation, bereavement, self-image or self-esteem or you may come to me for self-development or to find solutions to a particular problem you have.
In times of crisis many people find they cannot or dont want to turn to family or friends for help as they are inevitably biased. At times it is easy to feel overwhelmed, low and depressed. This is when Counselling / Psychotherapy can be most useful as talking to someone with specialised training enhances awareness of our patterns and enables us to resolve our difficulties.
I am an experienced BACP Accredited Counsellor and Supervisor with a private practice in Exmouth. I see people face to face, as individuals and I offer Couple Counselling for relationship difficulties.
I offer some evening and Saturday morning appointments.
I have a broad life experience and believe that a counselling relationship is a reparitive therapeutic experience which enables self-healing at an emotional and spiritual level which in turn promotes a sense of physical well-being.
I also offer Life Coaching and Emotional Freedom Techniques (AMT Certificate), Supervision, Workshops and group facilitation/training.

Other areas of counselling I deal with
Couple Counselling differs from individual counselling in that the locus of the counselling will always be on the co-created dynamic of the couple relationship. Most people dont know what they dont know about relationships. It is easy to compound misunderstandings through emotionally fuelled miscommunications, leading to a cycle of unfulfilled needs and increasing resentments.
When this becomes an established habit, couples dont know how to break the cycle leading to increasing resentments and unhappiness - and relationship breakdown.
Counselling helps individuals and couples to deal with their relationship issues which often include life stage transitions, illness, work worries, financial strains, conflict, sexuality, step-families or affairs.
I see gay and lesbian couples as well as hetrosexual couples.
EFT I offer guidance and support to those who wish to use EFT - Emotional Freedom Technique - a self-help therapy which is especially supportive to those wishing to conquer phobias, cravings and anxiety.

Further Information
My approach is essentially humanistic and integrative which means that I offer an empathic approach and draw upon a wealth of knowledge, training and experience from various 'schools' of theory, having trained as a Gestalt therapist, as a relationship counsellor with Relate and a supervisor using Person Centred approach as a core model and a Life Coach.
I originally trained in Gestalt Therapy before studying other types of approaches including systemic and cognitive models. Loosely Gestalt is a German word meaning parts organised into a pattern or 'whole'.
