Counsellor Profile

I am endlessly fascinated by people's lives and how they function within them. So being a counsellor is the ideal job for me. I feel that I am committed to helping people in their life journeys to find their true potential.
I am in my early 50s. I live in Burley in Wharfedale. I have a grown up daughter. I'm interested in Meditation and the Arts.

I worked for many years as a matrimonial lawyer and have extensive experience of helping people dealing with the trauma of the breakdown of relationships. I am also trained as a Family Mediator. I left the law to train as a Stress Manager and I set up my own practice in 1997 and worked with individuals and groups.
I Then trained to be a Therapeutic Counsellor at Park Lane College, Leeds, which I completed in 2002. The training was in the relational approach, which is a humanistic, person centred, integrative approach. My approach is therefore eclectic, drawing on my skills as appropriate and beneficial for the individual client. I am a BACP accredited counsellor. I offer Life Coaching as well as counselling.
I have had experience of counselling people with a wide range of problems to include, among other things, depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, insomnia, loneliness, loss, addiction (to include alcohol and overeating) relationship and work related problems, divorce, separation and sexuality issues.
