Counsellor Profile

I have been counselling for over 12 years . I trained and qualified with Relate. I then, while still maintaining a small private practice, joined a secondary mental health care team within the N.H.S. and became qualified with a DipSW. Consequently , I have worked with a broad spectrum of individuals,male and female, couples and families who are experiencing both acutely distressing problems and less severe ones.

In my counselling I aim to be able to understand and empathise with experiences of my clients no matter what their gender, sexuality, race or age . Feedback from the people I work with indicates this approach is reassuring and enabling.

Working non-judgementally , I aim to create a place of safety so that individuals and couples can explore and understand their problems and find solutions.

I provide counselling for a wide range of problems including depression ,anxiety,stress, life choices,all aspects of relationship /sexual difficulties . I can also work with more complex issues eg personality disorders.

My approach is always client centred . Interventions may call on a range of theoretical approaches for example , psycho-dynamic, cognitive behavioural or systems and role theory.

My work is about helping people to move forwards in life, according to their needs and goals.

I practise without discrimination towards any group or groups.

Life Experience :

I have a varied background ,having worked in differing occupations in both industry and the voluntary sector . My first degree is in law but have not practiced as a lawyer!
I have a family and enjoy music including playing the guitar . I keep active sailing and playing sport.

I enjoy my work and helping others to move forward in their lives.

starting from £20 for special cases normally £35 week day evenings, couples £38. Saturday by negotation.

Whether you're with someone or you're looking, relationships are the cause of both pleasure and pain. I can help you learn to feel more at ease with your own feelings and thereby improve how you relate to others . This will improve your effectiveness and your confidence.

If you carry emotional pain ie ongoing frustration ,grief ,anger etc I can help you start to heal these with a simple to learn technique.

I always ask clients for feedback. I am providing a service and am committed to working at the highest standard.
