I am conscious that from the outset many clients regard the counsellor as an expert, as an authority figure, rather than as a professional with some limited yet perhaps useful knowledge. I therefore work from the fundamental principle that counselling should nurture empowerment and encourage independence by fostering an atmosphere of collaborative exploration together. There can be negative aspects to entering a counselling relationship. When considering seeking such help the ideas expressed in this web site may be of value :- www.therapybreakdown.com
